Femfest (2017)

curated by Holly Rose O’Brien
Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds

FemFest was a three-day multi-arts festival in Leeds which aimed to celebrate the work of women artists and form a physical space where women artists could network, endorse and support each other’s work.

From visual artists, to clothing designers, to performance artists, the festival featured contributions from over 45 artists and speakers, 5 volunteers and 10 activities across the weekend. I worked closely with artists and participants in the lead up to the festival, we worked collaboratively to ensure exhibits, workshops and activities were well attended and successful.

There were workshops and talks from Light Up Fallowfield, Saffa Khan, Modes of Expression, Girls That Gig and Girl Gang, Transform’s festival director, Amy Letman; researcher, Elspeth Mitchell and video production company, Vera Media (creators of the documentary ‘Never Give Up! Against Violence Against Women in West Yorkshire’).
